## School Tree Day

On Friday 26th July, St Felix celebrated School Tree Day. Each class had the opportunity to plant something. Five White helped plant a dwarf lemon tree.

National Tree Day aims to inspire, educate and recruit Australians to actively care for our unique land. It provides all Australians with an opportunity to do something positive for the environment and reconnect with nature.

Take a look at Five White plating the lemon tree. It is now Five White’s responsibility to look after it!

## Time

In Mathematics, the students in Five White are learning about time. Without time we wouldn’t be able to have meetings, meet up with friends or even organise a party!

Take a look at the following time facts.

60 seconds = 1 minute
30 minutes = half an hour
60 minutes = 1 hour
24 hours = 1 day
7 days = 1 week
14 days (2 weeks) = 1 fortnight
28-31 days = 1 month
12 months = 1 year
365 days = 1 year
366 days = 1 leap year
Every four years = a leap year
100 years = 1 century

Can you think of examples of when the above time facts are important?

For example: we need to know when a year has passed to know how old we are!

## HSIE and Science

In Term 2, Five White worked on a range of activities that required them to research all about volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis.
